February Empties ... !

February Empties here (which you probably gleaned from the post title) - a bit late but hey-ho ...!

Soap & Glory Hand Food - I usually have several hand creams on the go - in situ in different rooms - reminds me to stick some on from time to time (this one was tucked away in the living room!).  I do like a bit of S&G 'Hand Food' (who doesn't?), was part of a kit with the hand wash (you know the one!)  Lovely hand cream, hydrates, soothes and smells great!

Tesco Smoothing Body Lotion -  can't do without some sort of body lotion/butter after a shower/bath. I've repurchased this one with Aloe Vera (and the Cocoa Butter version) many times over. They are so easy and quick to apply, absorb in an instant and are super cheap - great for everyday use and/or when you're in a rush to get your clobber on and get out the door/on the settee!

Coco Chanel Parfum - you just cannot beat a bit of Chanel! This is one of my favourite fragrances - the hubby bought it for my birthday a few years ago and I've only used it for very special occasions. Only the dregs are left now (that's a hint if he happens to read this!) - not chucking the bottle though - it's a lovely keepsake!

Gatineau Floracil Eye Make-Up Remover - I've used this 200 ml supersize for the last 4(ish) months and it's another product I should have done a full review on! It's gentle and non-oily, soothing and non-drying but effective at removing heavy eye make-up. Can also be used as a cooling eye-compress to revive tired eyes. A great product - I'm already on my second supersize!

Vichy Aqualia Thermal Light - at last something I have done a full review on - here! Yep a great product for hydration and its been ideal for layering with my Liz Earle Superskin Concentrate during the colder months. I should have really included this in last months empties but it was hiding at the back of the drawer - am well into my second pot and will repurchase (although Boots don't seem to be stocking it at the moment which is rather worrying!).

Le Petit Marseillais Peach and Nectarine Shower Gel - brought this back from last year's holiday in France (actually my daughter brought it back and I pinched it!). Gorgeous uplifting scent, reminds me of ripe fruit, summer sun and holiday - hoping to grab some more when we next pop across the water!

Liz Earle Instant Boost Skin Tonic - another 'Instant Boost' emptied out! Needs no introduction and still one of my favourites. Already got my next one open and in use!

Tesco Soft and Smooth Body Lotions

Just wanted to do a quick post on a couple of my fave items - Tesco Soft and Smooth Body Lotions.

I'm a bit of a body lotion fanatic, I apply the stuff every night after bath or shower and therefore get through quite a lot of it! If I don't my skin just itches in a most irritating (pardon the pun!) type fashion.

At approximately £1.15/400ml these are fantastic value. You can slap it on liberally and not have to worry about the price tag!  I really like to match my body lotion fragrance with my shower/bath products (am I weird or does everyone do this?) so tend to have both of these on the go pretty much most of time.

The Aloe Vera option is really cooling with a subtle scent.  I've not actually used it as my 'official aftersun' but do find it's great for summertime or on warmer evenings (sorry we'll obviously have to wait a while for those now!).   Also use this if I've been to the gym or in the morning as it's light, refreshing and also 'super-easy' to apply - it absorbs in no time yet still keeps my skin hydrated.

The Cocoa Butter option smells delicious, soft and buttery, I do tend to use this one in  colder weather, or when you just want to be 'wrapped up' in something comforting!  Again a good one for 'quick application' - to be honest, whether it be morning or evening I simply don't have time to faff about rubbing stuff in (which mum does?)!

So - while I was in Tesco the other day stocking up on these two (and a few other things!) I picked up a bag of hay for our Guinea Pigs - it always comes in handy because as well as using it for bedding they also seem to constantly eat the stuff!

I do like Dove products but tend to buy the body lotions when they're on offer, I use so much of the stuff I have to try to economise somehow!  Since these are half price at Sainsbury's at the moment it's a perfect opportunity to pick up a couple of my faves. The hand creams were on offer too but there were none left - shame.

Dove Indulgent Nourishment Body Lotion - I love products containing Shea Butter so this is a bit of a treat, lovely subtle scent which lingers on the skin for hours after. Standard 250 ml size but pretty good value at half price of £1.99.

Dove Essential Nourishment Body Lotion (formerly Rich Nourishing) - a good one for colder months, easily absorbed, skin softening and moisturising with a  'fresh and clean' smell. A whopping 400ml, so should last for ages and great value at half price of £2.49.

I've hovered over this range several times, attracted by the no parabens, SLS or SLES , as my scalp can sometimes react and become flaky with continued use of certain shampoos.  Now that they're on offer what better time to try them out?  There are four different shampoo and conditioner options, all half price at £2.00 per bottle -

I picked up the Blueberry and Pear, (initially went for the thickening but it had sold out) after lack of volume/thickness my next 'hair problem' is controlling frizziness.  Thought I'd therefore try the smoothing option.  My little girl also has the most tangle-prone hair ever, she has loads and loads of fine hair which is gorgeous but we have a constant battle with combing/brushing out, so as this is a gentle formula we'll give it a go and see if it helps.  Will report back on progress in due course!
