Party Nails Are Go ...!

Bonjour!

Party season is in full swing and Christmas is just round the corner (slight panic as I type that!) so thought I'd share a few polishes I'll be favouring over the festive period. After all - if a girl wants to bling up her nails what better time ...?

Here are my picks left to right ...

Barry M Textured Nail Paint in Duchess
17 Fast Finish Nail Polish in Navy Glint
Seche Nail Lacquer in Iconic
Beauty UK Glam Nails in Gun Metal
Elf Nail Polish in Chic Confetti

I  had to move to the window to take the pic below as the light was fading fast and ended up waking someone up who had been fast asleep in his chair - sorry pooch!

Below pic taken in the evening with lights on ... you'll have to excuse the state of my cuticles but I had just completed  a marathon of potato and vege peeling for dinner! Blogging and 'mum' duties do not always go hand in hand!

17 Navy Glint and Beauty UK Gun Metal are from last year - you can see NOTD posts here and here. I received Seche Iconic in a beauty box last year and gave it to my mum but she's let me have it back for the moment! Elf Chic Confetti (would look great over another colour - can't wait to try that out) and Barry M Duchess  are a couple of sparklies I bought recently as I was getting into the Christmas spirit ...

Can't decide which to use for Christmas Day? Which is your favourite? What will you be wearing on your nails?

NOTD - 17 Fast Finish Nail Polish - Navy Glint

Morning!

I know we'll shortly (hopefully) be heading into Spring and looking at the new season's colours but for now I've still got a few deeper shades to sport (and it's still too cold!). So without further ado ... here's the nail polish I obtained from Boots in my pre spending-ban haul ... 17 Fast Finish - Navy Glint ...

This is described 'on the can' as 'single coat high shine colour in 60 seconds'. I found with this polish you have to apply a really good thick coat - otherwise it's patchy and uneven - it's still a little patchy anyway - think you can see that on the pic above.  It was touch dry in 120ish seconds rather than the 60 stated and is if I'm honest a bit 'whiffier' than other polishes I've tried.  After a day it had chipped (with and without top coat) - I had spent some time scrubbing new potatoes at the sink so not sure if that had a hand in it.  I therefore went down the 'sod it - I'm applying two coats' route - which gave a better finish...as (I hope) you can see in pic below...

This lasted better with topcoat (as you would expect) - just over 2 days.  Despite all this malarkey, I really like the colour of this polish (probably why I faffed around with it for so long - and obviously why I bought it in the first place!) - it's really prettied up with the 'glint' aspect which gives it a sort of - would you say 'cosmic' feel to it (?) - anyway I like the effect!

Obviously - with all the running around I do I want to just apply a single coat of polish which will dry quickly and just crack on with stuff.  However I'd rather spend time applying a second coat and have it last longer (I know 2 days isn't really that long though) because - believe me - finding the time to sit down in the day and paint nails is an ordeal in itself!  So - not sure I'm sold on 17 Fast Finish as a one-coater (it was £2.99 so not too expensive) but - still love the colour!

Have you tried any 17 Fast Finish Nail Polishes - what's your verdict?

Mini Sales Haul meets 'Fly London'!

Bonjour!

Not had much time to blog this weekend - the hubby is ill with a chest infection so I'm holding the fort (as you do) and running around like a mad woman.  So ... just a quick post to share a few bits and bobs I obtained in the sales pre-spend ban.

Couple of fragrances half price (around £15 each) from Debenhams:-

Calvin Klein CKIN2U her Eau de Toilette - bit fresh/bit floral/bit citrus - will be ideal going into Spring.
Philosophy Summer Grace Eau de Toilette - as the name suggests smells of summer (not in this country!) - warm and floral - my little girl says it smells of summer flowers.

Couple of items from Boots:-

James Brown Protect and Nourish Kit - contains Colour Enhance Shampoo and Conditioner (each 75ml) and Intensive Moisture Mask (full size 150ml). I've not yet tried any products from the James Brown range -this was a complete bargain at half price of £5 -the mask is worth around £8 on it's own.

17 Fast Finish Nail Polish in Navy Glint - not a sale item although these are on offer at the moment down from £2.99 to £2.00.  I feel a NOTD coming on...just need the bloody time to paint the darn things!

And last but not least ....

I've been wanting Fly London's for ages (as my lovely blogging 'boot and bag obsessed' buddy Claire from Another New Day knows)!  I was after the high wedges but these 'Fly London Women's Mol' in black leather were reduced in the Amazon Boxing Day sales from £135 to £70 so my hubby bought them for me as he'd not really got me much for Christmas...still have my eye on those wedges but will have to save up! These are really comfortable although surprisingly snug around the calf (boots are usually too big for me in this region) so they must be quite a slim fitting but should give with wear. I've not even worn them yet - you know when you keep getting them out and looking at them ('said the mistress to the bishop!') and putting them away again because you don't want to get them dirty - ridiculous or what?

So - that's my lot - spending ban in full force now ...!  Did you bag any sales bargains recently?
