Shopping My Stash - Spring Nails ...!

Bonjour!

I've decided not to buy any new nail polish this Spring and just 'shop my stash' - I've fished out my 'Springiest' looking polishes to use ... pity the weather wasn't at it's 'Springiest' on the day I took these pics! Cheery little blighters aren't they?

This was one of those days when I'd done a load of housework (don't you just love those days!) and decided to do a quick paint job (it's always a quick paint job!) - in order to take these photos whilst the sun was still out ... unfortunately the sun went in just as I stepped outside ... typical! So here are the polishes with their original glossy finishes ...

I decided to complicate matters further/delay my return to household chores by having a bash with my No7 matte topcoat ... reminds me of those sweetie necklace type things from my youth!

After all this frivolity I then had to dash down to Sainsburys with multi coloured nails - just on the one hand mind - I didn't have time to do the other (!) - if anyone noticed they'd have thought I was off my trolley (absolutely no pun intended there - it just popped out - said the mistress to the bishop! I should stop this right now!). And now I can't decide on glossy or matte - I'm indecisive at the best of times!

Which do you prefer - glossy or matte? What polishes are you wearing this Springtime? Are you 'shopping' any of your stashes?

Party Nails Are Go ...!

Bonjour!

Party season is in full swing and Christmas is just round the corner (slight panic as I type that!) so thought I'd share a few polishes I'll be favouring over the festive period. After all - if a girl wants to bling up her nails what better time ...?

Here are my picks left to right ...

Barry M Textured Nail Paint in Duchess
17 Fast Finish Nail Polish in Navy Glint
Seche Nail Lacquer in Iconic
Beauty UK Glam Nails in Gun Metal
Elf Nail Polish in Chic Confetti

I  had to move to the window to take the pic below as the light was fading fast and ended up waking someone up who had been fast asleep in his chair - sorry pooch!

Below pic taken in the evening with lights on ... you'll have to excuse the state of my cuticles but I had just completed  a marathon of potato and vege peeling for dinner! Blogging and 'mum' duties do not always go hand in hand!

17 Navy Glint and Beauty UK Gun Metal are from last year - you can see NOTD posts here and here. I received Seche Iconic in a beauty box last year and gave it to my mum but she's let me have it back for the moment! Elf Chic Confetti (would look great over another colour - can't wait to try that out) and Barry M Duchess  are a couple of sparklies I bought recently as I was getting into the Christmas spirit ...

Can't decide which to use for Christmas Day? Which is your favourite? What will you be wearing on your nails?

New Year NOTD - Beauty UK Glam Nails - Gunmetal

Bonjour and Happy New Year's Eve!

In years gone by the hubby, myself and friends would be out every New Year's Eve at a (not so local) pub for the disco and New Year's party. Was brilliant - I remember dancing (with the other girls) on the chairs and silly string being squirted up my skirt by some nutter - resulting in my hubby threatening to 'take him outside' in no delicate fashion! We then walked a considerable distance home having had a 'skinful',  in all weathers (snow one year), didn't even feel the cold even though I was usually unsuitably clad - ah the benefits of youth!

These days it's just me, hubby and Jools Holland on the box (kids and dog asleep!).  Haven't been out on New Year's Eve since having kids  for all the usual reasons ... and I do miss it sometimes ... anyway ... I thought this would be a fitting nail choice for this time of year ...

Love this - I don't possess many metallic effect polishes but sometimes a bit of good ol' silver/gold is fine for a night out or just to brighten things up - and the way the weather's been today we've sure needed it!  This would actually have gone really well with my silver dress or skirt that I wore to go out in years and years ago!

Anyway - I love Beauty UK polishes - they go on fine and last pretty well and at only £1.99 you can't go wrong!  Full range of groovy shades from their website right here or from Superdrug.

Right - I'd best sign off and start peeling potatoes and vege for tonight's dinner! Have a brilliant evening everyone whatever you're doing - Happy New Year!

Last of the Summer Nails? NOTD Beauty UK - Bon Bon

Bonjour!

I became a little obsessed recently!

Having read Michaela's post 'NOTD - Island Girl Waikiki Color' over on her blog Lather Rinse Repeat (all the way from 'soon to be sunny' Sydney, Australia) which you can view here, I knew I just had to find a similar colour over in our neck of the woods.  You know when you see it, love it and 'have to have it' type of thing?

So what should I spot as I wandered round Superdrug but ..

Beauty UK Glam Nails - Bon Bon

I absolutely love, and I mean love this colour, it cheers me up every time I look at it! Gorgeous orangey-yellow with a tropical vibe going on - reminds me of the hot weather we haven't had - I'd hoped for a bit of an Indian Summer - pfft!  I know we're on our way into Autumn now but I'm going to drag the sunny colours out for as long as I can...!

I'm no expert in the polishing of nails (as I've no doubt mentioned before) but this seemed to go on pretty easily and although it's not totally opaque after two coats, it's got a good glossy finish (no topcoat applied here).  Not sure about the durability as yet but if it can withstand all the domestic chores my hands get up to it'll do for me!

Superdrug website didn't seem to hold much info about Beauty UK Nail Polishes, however, you can check out the full range of lovely colours directly from Beauty UK here

I have a feeling I'll be back in Superdrug very shortly ...

Have you tried any Beauty UK products?
